Metalcore band, Miss May I, release the hard-hitting track called "Causalities" off of upcoming studio release Shadows Inside. The track debuted exclusively with Loudwire, where vocalist, Levi Benton, how this was a different song lyrically than what he is used to. Benton said to Loudwire: “The track ‘Casualties’ came from a place of loss and feeling numb. This song is about how sometimes you lose interest in things you once loved and you start to feel nothing. When this happens both sides are lost and become casualties in the end. This song came from not feeling anything anymore towards everything I was doing. I felt so burned over the years and was so exhausted that it felt like there was no point to anything. I couldn’t feel happy, I couldn’t feel sad and I simply couldn’t feel anything!” The album is going to be released on June 2nd with SharpTone Records. On this YouTube channel is going to be posting content such as behind the scenes of Warped Tour this year. Costello has only posted two videos this far and really recommend if you are a fan of New Years Day or Costello checking out her channel and if you want supporting it. She has become one of the few musicians who are active on YouTube.

But, Foo Fighters stuck around to finish their set despite the circumstances. According to Billboard Bottlerock has a strict 10 pm curfew meaning that screens and speakers will be shut off at that time. Foo Fighter's aren't the only band to experience this during their set in 2014 the same thing happened to '80s goth rock band, the Cure. Check out the video here! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Do you think that Bottlerock should have pulled the plug on Foo Fighters? Or do you think that Foo Fighters should have honored festival rules? Leave a comment letting me know what you think down in the comments below! Also quick side note; sorry for the lack of content for the past few days I've been busy getting ready to finish up my freshman year of college. Don't worry there will be a lot more content in June! The song is based on the famous Stephen King novel the Shining. The song is theatrical and intricate which includes several easter eggs that fans of the original story will catch and thoroughly enjoy. The song really gives this story a new life in a new media format which I really enjoyed staying true to how dark and twisted the story is. Ice Nine Kills are good at retelling these stories in a more darker and twisted. It will also have fans of the band coming back for multiple listens and wanting more. Definitely go to check out the song; ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Let me know your thoughts on the track down in the comments below! Overall, I really enjoy the direction that the band is going and I'm really curious to see what else they have coming our way! Stay tuned for music news! Until then, See you in the pit! 🤘 Mari Going to concerts exposes us, music fans, to seeing a bunch bands that we would have never seen live before and introduces to us to their music. So as someone who has gone to quite a few concerts now here are just a select few of the bands I fell in love with after seeing them live. Keep in mind some of these could end up being repeats from my all time favorite bands I have seen live list...you have been warn. No particular order; 5. IslanderI first heard of Islander at The Word Alive concert in November of 2016. I instantly fell in love with their music it was something different that I have even heard before. In my opinion, they were doing something different than several rock bands are doing today. There sound is influenced by several different genres across the board that create a sound that just blends together almost seamlessly which includes nu-metal and some reggae. I highly recommend seeing these guys live if you ever have the chance. (Fun fact: they were also are Artist of the Month for April so go check that after you are finished reading this.) 4. The Word AliveI found The Word Alive at Warped Tour 2016, they were playing in the Monster Energy Party Zone. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't heard of The Word Alive being a big fan of metalcore music so curiosity got the best of me and I decided to check out their set. Their set was the first of the day and I had no other bands that I wanted to see so I was lucky enough to get a chance to see them. I loved their sound, and mostly their crowd at Warped that year everyone was so into the music that I was intrigued from that as well. 3. Eyes Set To KillThere's nothing cooler than seeing girls and guys playing metal together. That's exactly what Eyes Set To Kill is and I was simply impressed. We don't see many girls and guys playing in the same band together usually it is just one girl and a bunch of other guys. Which is what initially what got me hooked on this band when I saw them in 2015 opening up for New Years Day. At the time I went home and listened to their music in full and they quickly became one of my favorite bands. 2. Ice Nine KillsI'm always drawn to bands who include some type of theatrical element to a band, I don't know why I am but it just happens naturally. Ice Nine Kills always try bring their music to life onstage which something I do enjoy. I found these guys when they were opening up for a Motionless In White concert and trust this band only added to how amazing the lineup already was. I got into not very soon after and they also have become one of my favorite bands with the way they can tell a story onstage and with their music. 1. New Years DayIf you're surprised then I'm doing my job right. You may have seen me mention New Years Day quite a few times on my blog beforehand and they are one of the bands I saw live before loving. It was my very first Vans Warped Tour back in 2013 where I was walking around trying to figure what bands I wanted to see. When I stumbled across New Years Day playing main stage and instantly was intrigued by their sound and their look. During their set they played their song "Angel Eyes" and when I found out that the song featured Chris Motionless and instantly wanted to check out their music.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sorry this may not have been as serious of a post as I would like to make today. Though, I've been swept up in my in homework and exams and wanted to write something fun and quick. Hey! Maybe some of you will want to see some of these bands live after reading this. Let me know down in the comments if you have seen any of these bands live, what bands you fell in love with after seeing them live. Also, any ideas for countdowns, Artist of the Month, or album reviews you would like to see in the near future. Until then, See you in the pit! 🤘 Mari Just to let you know we do have a Twitter and Facebook page https://twitter.com/ftpmusicblog https://www.facebook.com/FeelThePulseMusicBlog I wanted to create a discussion about everything that has gone in the music industry lately. I know, this isn't the usual content you will find on my blog but still I felt it was important to talk about. As you may have seen in the news recently another concert has been attacked. Which is truly heart wrenching. I'm sure you've all heard about this by now you've seen it flooded all over social media.
Well, In my nearly two decades of being alive would I think I would see the day where concerts would be a hot a spot of attacks. But I don't think we should avoid going out into concerts entirely. We cannot live in fear and we should continue going to concerts as an act of rebelliousness. Though I think vocalist Lzzy Hale said it best in an Instagram post: "My heart goes out to Ariana Grande, the victims and the victims families of tonight's attack in Manchester. Our music sanctuary was defiled again tonight. As a performer this hits at my very core. This is again an attack on my home, the very place where my soul lives and breathes. And as a performer I will continue to bring live music to all corners of the world, now not only as an act of peace, equality, love and empowerment but as an act of defiance. I defy your hate, senselessness and cowardice. How dare you enter our fucking church and bring an early end to innocent children and adults who's only desire tonight was to feel that intangible freedom that live music gifts to us all. I raise my guitar and sing my highest note for all our friends in Manchester and we carry Paris with us always as well! We fight back with love and Rock n Roll! Rock on my friends...Rock On." With this I want leave this short discussion off on this note. Stay safe, go to concerts, and don't let terrorism ruin concerts for all us music lovers in the world. I'm praying for you Manchester! Until then, Stay safe, And always, See you in the pit! 🤘 Mari Feel free to contribute with your emotions down in the comments section. Music censorship is something that is relevant in today's music scene and since the dawn of popular music. This act of censorships restricts the use of obscene language, sex, religion, and violence in lyrics. Some examples of musicians who were deemed "explicit" musicians are everyone from Elvis Presley to Marilyn Manson to the Dixie Chicks to Ozzy Osborne. These artists are very different from one another and have little to nothing in common but they have been labeled by the mainstream culture.
Here are some examples of music censorship. 1968 The Doors' song "Unknown Soldier" was banned from airtime due to it being an anti-war anthem. 1998 An 18 year old was suspended from his Michigan high school for wearing a Korn t-shirt. The shirt had no images or words other than the bands name. 2003 The Six Flags Amusement Park management in New York banned Marilyn Manson from playing Ozzfest. These are just a few examples that have happened several years ago but it is still happening, more recently a Connecticut high school dropped their student production of Green Day's American Idiot. Which would be considered another form of music censorship since this album would be considered very politic. This incident only took place in January of 2016. While some encourages this censorship of the music industry and why do they do it. According to to the National Coalition Against Censorship (NCAC) this due to the Federal Communication Commission where they can cancel concerts if they maybe anti-religious, or a radio station can be fined by the government because it can allegedly play songs with explicit lyrics. Many private actions are taken to restrict the music produced into the world to make sure it is "appropriate" to the general public. In 1985, many businessmen and politicians gathered to lobbied to have music to receive a rating system similar to film and have the lyrics be printed on them. In 1990, the music industry started using the parental advisory sticker (image above) to albums that were deemed to have explicit content. Shortly after Walmart refused to sell CDs that have the parental advisory sticker on the cover. Does censorship help or harm the general public for consumers of music. Some people say that some cons is that it limits musicians to express themselves in the their music. Musicians would not to be able to write about issues that matter to them such as violate, religion, and other issues whether they are speaking towards them or against them. Therefore musicians feel like they have to be on a leash and are being controlled and manipulated by a higher power that they have no control over. It also takes away from the First Amendment which allows several freedoms including freedom of speech thereby limiting one freedom of several musicians around the world. While those who advocate for music censorship may say other wise. It promotes a political correctness to the listeners which can help than interact in modern day society appropriately. It shields those who may be too young or triggering content from sensitive material such as violence and sex. It restricts vulgarity and obscenity from the mainstream which is also a positive so children will have no access to it. Which leads into the next point where they also censor music videos that may be to inappropriate for children once again. Now that I have laid out the framework of music censorship I would like to know your thoughts on it. Do you think that music censorship is a negative or positive the music industry? Do you think that music censorship is too strict or just strict enough? If so why? Please engage in a respectful discussion down in the comments below, I would love to know your thoughts on music censorship. Until then, I'll see you in the pit! 🤘 Mari SOURCES http://ncac.org/issue/music https://www.aclu.org/other/brief-timeline-censored-music http://www.cbc.ca/news/entertainment/greenday-american-idiot-dropped-school-1.3420548 https://system.uslegal.com/u-s-constitution/amendment-i/censorship-in-the-united-states/music-censorship/ https://flowpsychology.com/6-pros-and-cons-of-music-censorship/ http://censoryofmusic.weebly.com/pros-and-cons.html |
