In today's generation mainly guys rule the rock n' roll airwaves, but there also so truly phenomenal female vocalists. Sometimes these female vocalists are over shadowed by their male counterparts. 1. Lzzy HaleLzzy Hale is the powerhouse vocalist behind the force of Halestorm. Hale has been making music for the past twenty years! Her band, Halestorm, formed in 1997 with the help of her brother, Arejay Hale. Since then Halestorm has become a household name and regarded for Hale's powerful vocalist. She was also nominated for best vocalist for the APMAs in 2016. She can give a hard rock thrasher song and a soft delicate ballad. 2. Lynn GunnLynn Gunn and her band PVRIS have seen fast success, after only forming in 2012. Gunn is able to captivate a crowd with just a few simple notes as her haunting vocals convey the lyrics of the song. Her vocals are perfect for some hard rock and gloom pop infused melodies. Gunn can definitely hold her own when it comes to her music. When PVRIS played Warped Tour 2014 Kevin Lyman moved them from the Journeys Stage to Main Stage because of the crowds they brought in. Lynn Gunn was also nominated for best vocalist in the 2015 APMAS. 3. Ashley CostelloAshley Costello has come along way with her vocals since the band, New Years Day, had formed. Originally the band was a pop punk band but after some lineup changes Costello gained creative control and took the band into the heavy band they are today. She took on a lot with the previous New Years Day release, Malevolence, she was able to improve not only her clean vocals but her unclean vocals as well. To this day she is trying to become the best vocalist she can possibly be. 4. Ariel BloomerAriel Bloomer and her band Icon For Hire had gone through a lot in their musical career. Their old record label Tooth & Nail had been censoring them and not giving creative control over their own project, because of this the band dropped their label and became an independent band. Since then Bloomer has been able to stop the upward trajectory of her band's success. They were able to put out a full length album through crowd funding and go on a headlining tour around the midwest. Their new record, You Can't Kill Us, is a message saying you can make it without a label. 5. Taylor MomsenSome may know Taylor Momsen from her acting career where she was most known for her roles in Gossip Girl and The Grinch. Others know Momsen from her rock band The Pretty Reckless, Momsen isn't much of an actress anymore but more-so the singer for an incredible band. Momsen's growling rough vocals--which are by no means a band thing--fit so well with the type of genre she is in. The Pretty Reckless's over all embodies the rock n' roll lifestyle. Who better could fit that imagine than Taylor Momsen. She is has most recognition for her song "Heaven Knows" which gets the most radio play.
