Halestorm is one of my favorite bands of all time! I hardly talk about them on my blog but I think that these guys (and girls) are extremely talented. You may have heard of Halestorm before there most popular song being "I Miss the Misery." I compiled a list of my favorite Halestorm songs so if you want to get into the band you will have a place to start. In no particular order let's get to the songs at hand. 10. Freak Like MeThis song is about letting your freak flag fly! "Freak Like Me" was featured on the band's sophomore The Strange Case of... this song tells the listener to embrace their wild side and along with that the song is high energy. It features amazing instrumentals and an incredible vocal performance from Lzzy Hale. Hale is also my favorite female vocalist and has amazing talent. 9. It's Not YouThis song has an amazing rock song which truly embodies the rock n' roll spirit musically! It even includes the cowbell, lyrically this is probably the song that is the friendzone anthem. Halestorm really bring the aggression with this song making it a fun listen. Probably a song you could play in the car and jam out with as your cruising down the highway on a hot summer day. 8. Daughters of DarknessThis song is definitely about girl power and how it's okay to be a "daughter of darkness" leaning to more of an rebellious edge and you can't mess with us. This one of my very first favorite Halestorm tracks by the band and was one that I always loved coming back to the song. It's a song that it's a fun listen to and just enjoyable and making a statement that girls don't have to be the cookie cutter perfect image as society depicts. 7. Familiar Taste of PoisonThis song is much slower than the others. It's dark it tells a a narrative about love, loss, intrigue, and murder in a Gatsby era. The song is a dark guitar driven ballad that just leaves a haunting impression of the song and you really just are captivated by. It's powerful and is something you can always come back to when you want something that will be a song that will stick with you. I also highly recommend you check out the music video that goes with the song. 6. AmenThis song really depicts what it is like how we all have passions. It really tries to play what makes people expressing what they love. The lyrics say that, "My life/My love/My sex/My drug/My lust" and later again "My grace/My church/My pain/My tears/My hurt." It really shows that whatever the listeners take away from the lyrics can really connect to something that they are passionate about. 5. Love Bites (So Do I)"Love Bites (So Do I)" was one of the first songs I heard by Halestorm and after hearing this song I was completely hooked. It completely makes me feel nostalgic when hear the song and it reminds me of the times when was young and completely amazed by Halestorm. Along with that, it's an honestly a great song that never gets old and you can listen over and over again. This song made me fall in love with the badass, Lzzy Hale. 4. I Am the FireThere's nothing wrong with a song that say's, "You got this." That's exactly what Halestorm's song "I Am the Fire" is saying. I encourages people to go on in their lives and "be the fire" as one could say. The band also says uses fire as a metaphor to burn bright and blaze the trail in whatever you want to do. 3. Break InThis probably the slowest song on the my top 10 ten list and it's just a very slow beautiful ballad featuring Lzzy Hale and the piano. It is something that I can really relate to because it's song that is how wish I can be in relationship. It's sappy for me to have that connection but I'm sure anyone can relate to this in a similar way to this beautiful track. It really is a powerful song and is one of the fewer slower songs that I enjoy. 2. I Like it HeavyThis is honestly just a fun song, about the rock n' roll lifestyle and I'm sure all of my readers could relate to this song because we are a community of rockaholics and metalheads. It's something that makes just makes you feel love the entire lifestyle sex, drugs and rock n' roll. I've also grown up listening to rock n' roll and someone going to work in the rock and metal scene it's something that I just can jam too. 1. Rock ShowThis is probably one of my favorite songs of all time, probably because I can see myself a lot in this song. This honestly gives me chills because I am the girl at the rock show I'm in the front row and it's honestly become like a home more than a community. Going to concerts and rock music is such a big part of my life that I just feel like this song is song that describes what am and how I feel at the concert. I know it's really cheesy but it's me and I don't regret and it's my everything.

Until then, See you in the pit! 🤘 Mari SOURCES http://www.altpress.com/news/entry/marilyn_manson_unleashes_new_song_kill4melisten Autumn is fast approaching (next week to be exact), personally during the Spring and Summer I love pop punk and post-hardcore music something much more lighter and fun loving. During the Fall and Winter, it's a different story I love metalcore and hard rock. Maybe it's because it's starting to get colder and darker because at least here in Washington it's already down into the 60s so Summer is definitely is over. Enough rambling and now it's time for the songs itself. 5. A Reason Why by AegesI found Aeges when they played at Pain in the Grass 2017 and I gravitated this song because during the weekends I'm DJs so I decided to play this song. It's a song that questions whether you want to be alive and trying to understand the meaning of life. I highly recommend you check out the music video for "A Reason Why" because it's dark mysterious and really haunting as you see a young guy try to figure out why he's alive. It's a perfect song for the transition of Summer to Autumn because they still have upbeat songs but still have a nice hard rock sound. 4. Familiar Taste of Poison by HalestormI feel like I never talk about Halestorm enough, and I really should talk about them more! I absolutely love Halestorm they're one of my favorite bands and Lzzy Hale is an amazing vocalist. "Familiar Taste of Poison" is a haunting song where you hear about love, loss, and intrigue. The song also really fits well with the song where you try to uncover a murder mystery which absolutely perfect for Fall! I don't why I think of things that are more dark and mysterious for Fall (oh yeah, probably Halloween). This is another music video that you should check out because it has a really amazing storyline. I'm also bummed I can't see them live this Autumn with New Years Day and Starset. 3. Anti-Everything by DedI found this band because I trying to find new bands to play on my radio show, and the first song I heard was "Anti-Everything" and I absolutely fell in love. They are an amazing new nu-metal band it's dark mysterious and energetic. I definitely have been coming back to this and I definitely recommend you check these guys out. Ded are a band that have a lot of potential to become a huge rock band in the scene and I really can't wait here what's next to come from them. This band only has one album out yet and I definitely recommend you check it out. 2. Devil's Night by Motionless In WhiteMotionless In White is my all time favorite band and "Devil's Night" is my all time favorite song by them. It's a fun aggressive energetic song that will definitely get you guys moving. This song is one that I never get tired of them by them, I always blast this song whenever I hear it on Spotify and loose my mind when I hear them play it live. If you are thinking about starting to listen to Motionless In White I recommend you start out with this song because it will just leave you speechless. I'm also super bummed I can't go to their fall tour with Miss May I and The Amity Affliction. 1. The Nature of the Beast by Ice Nine KillsI don't know why I always gravitate towards Ice Nine Kills during the fall. Maybe it's because they are a band that has written severals about literature and have made into a haunting story. I know I chose "Nature of the Beast" to put on this list but honestly it should "Any Song by Ice Nine Kills" because all of these songs and music videos have a dark narrative to tell. Not many bands can be successful at this but Ice Nine Kills have a talent for this and they will captivate you with their haunting imagery in any of their music videos especially their 2015 release Every Trick in the Book.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What did you think of this seasonal playlist? I really enjoy coming up with these playlists every seasonal because it really makes me get into that Hallo--AUTUMN! Autumn spirit and please feel free to let me know your thoughts on these songs! Until then, See you in the pit! 🤘 Mari Catch me on air Saturdays 10 pm to 12 am Stream live at kzuu.wsu.edu Marilyn Manson had an awkward encounter with teen pop idol, Justin Bieber. It all started with the when Bieber copied the design of one of Manson's iconic t-shirt design. The shirt was sold at Barney's $195 while you can buy the t-shirt for much more cheaper at other stores for less then half of the price Bieber was asking for. While wearing the the t-shirt Bieber claimed that he "made Manson relevant again."
In an interview with Consequence of Sound. "I took all the proceeds the proceeds from those shirts from him. They didn't even fight, 'Yeah, we know we did wrong, so here's the money. He said to me, 'I made you relevant again.' Bad mistake to say to me. The next day I told him I'd be at his soundcheck at Staples Center to do 'Beautiful People.' He believed that I'd show up, because he was that stupid." After his encounter with Bieber this what Manson said, "He was a real piece of shit in the way he had the arrogance to say that. He was a real touchy feely guy, too, like, 'Yo yo bro!' and touches you when he's talking. I'm like, you need to stand down, you're dick height on me, ok? (Laughs) Alright? So stand down son." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What do you think about Manson's encounter with Bieber. Leave a comment with your thoughts down below! This happened after members Aiden Marceron and Mason Gainer. They will also be playing one last show as Bad Seed Rising. Check out the band's statement on Facebook here:
"We are sad to announce that BSR has come to an end. After 5 years, it is time for us to part our separate ways. Mason and Aiden have simply decided to move on in another direction without us, and although it sucks, we humbly respect that decision and wish them the best of luck. There's no bad blood between any of us, we will always still be brothers (and sister). We want to thank all of you so much for supporting us throughout the years. We truly appreciate everything everyone has done for us to get us where we have gone. Nothing could ever replace all of the memories and accomplishments we've made. So help us create one last incredible memory. Bad Seed Rising will be playing at the Carroll County Arts Center in Westminster, MD on Mon, Sep 11, at 7:00 PM. You can purchase tickets at the door or here online http://badseedrising.info. Please help us make this last hurrah amazing. Thank you all so much, we hope to see you guys there. Love, Francheska, Mason, Louey, and Aiden." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What do you guys think about this? Are you sad to see Bad Seed Rising go? Leave a comment below! Until then, See you in the pit! 🤘 Mari The APMAS are long over but that doesn't mean we can't discuss some of our favorite performances of the evening. Though, not everyone was a fan of the APMAS this year there were definitely some absolutely stunning performances that did take place. So today I decided to compile a list of some of my favorite APMAS performances. In no particular order her our my top four performances. 4. Pierce The VeilPierce The Veil honored the late and great Chris Cornell of Soundgarden after his passing earlier this year. It was completely amazing and stunning in his memory. Pierce The Veil did a great job of covering this song because it a difficult song to perform. It was important that we honor those who really paved the way in the rock industry and Chris Cornell was definitely a pioneer of this. 3. The Pretty RecklessThe Pretty Reckless played their song "Hangman" at the APMAS and this is definitely one of my favorite songs of theirs. It's dark, it's grungy and definitely sums up The Pretty Reckless sound perfectly. As always, in my opinion, The Pretty Reckless sounded amazing. It was epic and entertaining, I loved seeing The Pretty Reckless being apart of APMAS because I have not really seen in the magazine. They're also amazing live. 2. StarsetThis was the first time I was exposed to Starset and I fell in love with the band's sound because it completely different than anything I've heard recently. They have a larger than life sound and I totally love the space theme which I totally love because it gives this a visual aspect to their music. I'm bummed I've never heard of Starset before the APMAS because now I am totally obsessed. 1. New Years DayNew Years Day played two songs at the APMAS they played "Defame Me" off their album Malevolence and they covered Garage's "Only Happy When It Rains" along side Lzzy Hale of Halestorm. If you know anything about me then you would know that New Years Day and Halestorm are two my favorite female fronted bands in the scene. It was almost like a dream come true seeing my two favorite female vocalists rocking out onstage together.
Hard Rock Artist of the Year presented by Frontier Music SRL
Who are you going to be voting for? Until then, See you in the pit! 🤘 Mari Everyone loves a cover song now and then, it's phone to see our favorite artists takes on songs that are not their own. Cover songs can I either be hits or misses it all just depends on the person's preference. Now everyone is covering songs thanks to the Punk Goes Pop series it seems like all these bands happen to have covers. Here are five of my favorite covers that I simply love to jam to. 5. Heathens by Halestorm (original twenty one pilots)It was fun to listen to Halestorm's version of a popular song and I think that absolutely killed it. The song still stayed true to the original by twenty one pilots but became more rockier and heavier. Vocalist, Lzzy Hale, never fails to amaze and she completely owned the song and made completely believable. This cover is a different entity from the original but I feel drawn to this song and keep on coming back to it over and over again. 4. Du Hast by Motionless In White (original Rammstein)Singing is a difficult task and not everyone can do it, let a lone singing in a foreign language but Motionless In White managed to accomplish the task and exceed. Motionless In White covered "Du Hast" for Punk Goes '90s Vol 2 the song is originally by German metal band Rammstein. Chris Motionless, managed to nail the cover of this song despite the language barrier. This will forever be my favorite cover Motionless In White have ever done because of have well executed this song is. 3. Animals by Ice Nine Kills (original Maroon 5)Because of Punk Goes Pop it opens doors for people listen to music they thought they'd never listen to. That happens to be the case with Ice Nine Kills' cover of "Animals" off of Punk Goes Pop Vol. 6. They took "Animals" and made it their own if one didn't know better it could possibly pass as an original by the band. Though, the song is a fun pop song this cover still keeps it fun and upbeat. This also probably my favorite Ice Nine Kills cover. 2. Alabama Song by Marilyn Manson (original the Doors)Shock rocker, Marilyn Manson, covered the Doors song "Alabama Song" and I think that Manson did an incredible job of covering the song. It was just Manson and the piano it along has a burlesque feel and I really like the dark twist on the classic Doors song. It stood out to me because of this and is probably my favorite Manson cover and I know most people enjoy "Tainted Love" and "Sweet Dreams." 1. Gangsta by New Years Day (original Kehlani)New Years Day completely owned the track that gained fame after being included apart of the Suicide Squad soundtrack. The track is dark, sexy and fun, New Years Day's flair made this song become even more attractive than it already is. Vocally this some of Ash Costello's best work the inflection of the vocals is absolutely stunning and chilling. You definitely will prefer this version over this original if you are into music with a darker twist.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What are some of your favorite cover songs? Leave a comment down below! Until then, See you in the pit! 🤘 Mari In wake of recent events in Charlottesville this past weekend, teenage punk rockers, Doll Skin, released a music video for their song "Puncha Nazi" off their latest release Manic Pixie Dream Girl. Sending their message loud and clear and taking a stance against the hate here is their statement they released a long with the video. "In the face of a world that holds a shocking amount of racist, fascist, white supremacists (aka Nazis), you have to stand up for what you believe in and you have to do it now. There is no space for hate on this planet. We will not allow it. The time to fight back is right here, right now. "Make racists afraid again." Let me know your thoughts on the video down in the comments below! Until then, See you in the pit! 🤘 Mari SOURCES http://www.altpress.com/news/entry/doll_skin_puncha_nazi_video Acoustic songs are always a nice way to listen to songs in a different form. They can change how we think of the song and possibly the songs meaning. Personally, when I'm at school I like to put on some acoustic tracks of songs I love because they simply create a more peaceful atmosphere. Acoustic tracks can come across in many different ways they can butcher the song or give one a larger appreciation. Here are some of my favorite acoustic tracks I like to jam to. 5. Eyes Wide Shut by Conquer DivideI think that clean vocalist, Kia Castillo, really shines in this track because it turns the more rocky version of the song into something much more gentler. Hearing "Eyes Wide Shut" in this version creates a more haunting tragedy where you really hear the emotion of song in a much different way. It's a really smooth transition from full band to acoustic since not all bands can make a clean transition with the song feeling strong and impactful. 4. Jonathan by Ice Nine KillsIt could be possible that I love the acoustic version of "Jonathan" by Ice Nine Kills more than the full band version. I think that the acoustic version is so beautifully composed and really tells Jonathan's story well. It's a really beautiful version of the song that I think even non Ice Nine Kills fans can enjoy. It's definitely a tear jerker of a track and is probably one of the tracks that I recommend you check out the most on the list. 3. Freak On a Leash by Korn ft Amy LeeI know that this isn't my first time talking about the acoustic version of "Freak On a Leash" but I simply love this version of the song. Firstly, I love how tame the song is compared to the full band version of the song. Secondly, I love that this version features Amy Lee of Evanescence growing up listening to that band it just adds a nostalgic feel to the song. This is a really nice version of "Freak On a Leash" and translates well into an acoustic version of the song. 2. Harsh by Eyes Set To KillEyes Set To Kill have out a few acoustic tracks, but I really have to say that "Harsh" is my favorite acoustic track. I really love just hearing vocalist, Alexia Rodriguez, and the guitar it really just has a nice raw sound. There's something I just enjoy really raw songs and all of Eyes Set To Kill's acoustic songs sound raw so you really can't go with any Eyes Set To Kill song. This however, is by far is my favorite acoustic from Eyes Set To Kill. 1. Eternally Yours by Motionless In White (performed by Ricky Horror)There are many things that I love about "Eternally Yours" as an acoustic song. The first being that this song is performed by guitarist, Ricky Horror, which I think is just different than any other band has done since normally it's just the vocalist and the guitar. The second being is that this song haunting, haunting in a different way than the full band version of the song, it's haunting in terms that's melodic. After listening to this song it inspired me to create this countdown.
